Too much of a good thing...
Today was a beautiful day. Not too hot, sunny and just enough wind that when the sun got too hot, a little breeze would blow by and cool you off. So, naturally, I decided to enjoy the sun. There was also the thought that if I got a little tan on my stomach, it wouldn't look so large in my swim suit next week. I am off to work camp with the youth group from my church and on wednesday afternoon, we have free time. So, our group is heading to a nearby state park to swim and cook-out. Anyway, the plan this afternoon was to just get a little color to match my arms and legs which got rather tan walking around New York. However, to make the time pass quicker, I popped on my ipod and grabbed a book. Yeah, that was great, except that I wound up getting totally hooked on the book (The Other Boleyn Girl- no I haven't seen the movie yet, as I've been waiting to read the book first). I totally lost track of how long I had been outside. When I went inside, though, I really didn't look red. I thought I had escaped without any major damage. I was sitting outside on my parent's deck, and on my way home, I decided to stop and get groceries for the week. As I'm walking through Pick-N-Save, I glanced down at one point and noticed some red on my chest. So, I figured I had gotten a little burned. When I got home, I checked out the extent of the damage. It's not horrible. It's not like it's blistering or anything. But, it does look pretty funky. Apparently the way I was sitting, one side of me got more sun than the other. My chest is burned all over, which looks funny only because it's like I have a big red V on my chest. My stomach is another story. The left side of my stomach is burnt, while the right side doesn't have much color at all. So, I'm a little lopsided at the moment. I'm hoping with some aloe I will be evened out soon. Keep your fingers crossed.
